"Creative Connections"

By Melissa Stone

Many of you in our Facebook group are artists of some kind. As such, I’d like to share an encouraging devotional by Shanna Noel entitled "Creative Connections" from her work "100 Days of Prayer: A Devotional Journal" by DaySpring. I pray it will bless you and encourage you to keep using your gifts for God’s glory and for your growth:

People often look to the arts for inspiration in tough times. It may be music, poetry, painting, dance—anything that lifts our spirits and reminds us of the depth, meaning, and beauty in our lives. True creativity comes from our hearts, and that’s the place where we connect most deeply as humans. So when we see a detailed picture that evokes a strong emotion or read a story that makes us say, “Yes, I get it! Me too!” or hear a song that brings back a vivid memory, we are connected with the soul who created it in a very personal way. The ability to create is one of those God-given gifts that we can always use to bless and inspire. Sharing our creations, whatever they may be, can help others feel encouraged and understood. Smiles may happen, healing tears may be shed, loneliness may be lifted… only God knows what our offerings will mean to those around us. Our job is simply to have the openness to His Spirit and the courage to share our gifts. The rest is in His hands, and we know that means the possibilities are endless.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” —1 Peter 4:10 ESV

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” —Colossians 3:23 NIV

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” —1 Corinthians 12:7 NKJV
