History
Steve Barbour, Teresa Scudder & Tom Baader
Two long time friends, Tom Baader & Steve Barbour, had sung together in a small church quartet. The two got together and decided to start a new group. Steve was new to Eastwood Baptist Church. Tom introduced Steve to Teresa Scudder and Living Proof was formed in the spring of 2011 The first time LP sang publicly was at the annual homecoming choir production on August 21, 2011. The group sang the song "By Faith I Can Touch Him" which is available for viewing by clicking on the song title.
The first full concert outside of Eastwood was at Glasgow First Church of the Nazarene on December 17, 2011. The group continued to mainly sing at Eastwood Baptist Church for special programs but also ventured out into surrounding areas to sing and do concerts. The group even sang for the Kentukcy Nazarene Lay Retreat at Lake Barkley State Park (a weekend retreat to encourage lay people).
Steve Barbour, Tina Barbour & Teresa Scudder
In 2015, Tina Barbour joined the group as they continued on singing in various churches throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. "I Touched Jesus" was the first public song performed (Click song title to view). The voices changed so the sound changed. Many of the older songs that LP sang had to be revamped and parts switched around along with many new songs selected. Teresa decided to leave Living Proof and now sings with the Promise.
Steve Barbour, Tina Barbour, Allen Layman & Heather Layman
Heather & Allen Layman joined Living Proof in 2016. A transition was made to a mixed quartet which means learning new songs and rearranging old songs. Heather and Allen were a great addition personality wise and vocally. Their infectious personalities were loved by all who met them. The singing schedule definitely increased with their addition to the group. "Remind Me Of The Cross" was a crowd favorite that featured Allen. They have two young daughters that kept them busy and eventually left to spend more time raising their girls.
Steve Barbour, Tina Barbour, Russ Funk & Shaela Funk
Russ & Shaela Funk joined Living Proof after Heather & Allen's departure in 2017. The mixed quartet sound was still there and many of the songs stayed the same. We recorded a 4 song mini project. We started traveling with a keyboard and did some "live" music during our concerts. We traveled to Ohio and many places in Kentucky. Living Proof sang the song "Thanks To Calvary" at Eastwood Baptist Church for their Palm Sunday program in 2018. Russ & Shaela now have their own group, Mercy's Won.
Steve Barbour, Tina Barbour, Melissa Stone
Melissa Stone joined Living Proof in October for 2018. Her first performance was for the Kentucky State Gospel Singing Convention in Cave City, KY. Melissa brings a new feel to Living Proof and has proven to be a great addition. "Worship You Again" is a crowd favorite. Melissa has bonded well with our many new friends we have made. We have sung at NQC, KSGSC and many other events along with churches. Keep us in your prayers.
